You can upgrade to macOS Sierra from OS X Lion or later on any of the following Mac models. Your Mac also needs at least 2GB of memory and 8.8GB of available storage space.

To find your Mac model, memory, storage space, and macOS version, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu . If your Mac isn't compatible with macOS Sierra, the installer will let you know.

Dec 20, 2018 In the past with macOS Sierra and El Capitan, I used the Terminal command “chflags nohidden /Library” to make my user library permanently visible. But after updating to macOS Sierra (10.12.6) then High Sierra (10.13) and finally macOS Mojave (10.14), this Terminal command no longer appears to work! To unhide your Library folder in macOS Sierra, launch Finder and navigate to your user Home folder (you can jump directly to your user folder by select Go Home from the Finder’s menu bar. Once you have got that out of the way, you can now proceed to install macOS High Sierra in VirtualBox on Windows 10. What I had to do is to set “Use as system photo library” in the Photos preferences, but it was grayed out.

Install the macOS installer
Double-click the downloaded file to open a window showing its contents. Then double-click the file within, named InstallOS.pkg.

Begin installation
After installation of the installer is complete, open the Applications folder on your Mac, then double-click the file named Install macOS Sierra.
